i finally got meet ian paice, drummer with deep purple. they are my favourite band. this pic is also on my blog page, but i just figured out how to get it in here. this was in toronto, ontario, in aug. '04. i'm wearing my 'rock' denim jacket. it has rock patches of purple, whitesnake, gillan. and i'm wearing my purple t-shirt of course.
try to make long story short - when we saw them earlier in february of that year, ian didn't stick around at the meet and greet and we didn't get his shot and autograph. at this concert i guess he was more in the mood.
wouldn't you know, by the time of this shot, i was out of film! i asked a stranger if he would take a pic and e-mail it to me, and he agreed. great guy. i forget his name. this same guy was at the mike bullard show the next day and purple were guests. mike bullard actually talked to him in the crowd.
anyway, ian has slowed down in later years, but back in the '70s, man did he drum. in the video of 'Burn' from a concert in california, his arms are just a blur. and check out his drumming on 'Machine Head' if you get a chance.
