well...ok, neil armstrong is the man, but this guy is the...ummm, second man? john young. i don't remember the details, but this guy's space career lasted a long time. i believe he was involved in the early space program, in the '60s, and his career continued well into the space shuttle era.

in fact, he was the pilot of the first-ever shuttle flight, on the enterprise (which was named after the star trek ship). the enterprise never went into space, but was used only for sub-space tests.
