this is kalpana...one of the unfortunate astronauts to die in the last shuttle tragedy. thing was, she loved deep purple! astronauts get to bring some cds of their favourite bands, and they take turns playing them in the morning, and she brought purple. she liked 'space truckin', appropriate, and others.she and her huband actually corresponded with the band before the launch. she invited them to the launch, but they were in the studio and couldn't make it. purple axeman steve morse wrote 'contact lost' from the album bananas for them. google it, awesome tune.
